Kristi Hemmer - Author Talk and Book Signing

Dubuque Native Kristi Hemmer will be stopping in at River Lights during her midwest MOXIEon book tour on Saturday, July 10. At 2:30 p.m. Ms. Hemmer will share insights gained while traveling the world on $20 a day that led her to form the Academy for Women's Empowerment - and to write Quit Being So Good, followed by conversation and book signings.

As an educator for 20 plus years, Ms. Hemmer’s big question was, “Why do women and girls shrink in a classroom, boardroom, and conversation?” It inspired her to start her own social business, Academy for Women’s Empowerment. After changing thousands of lives, she wrote Quit Being So Good to address the underlying message she heard over and over again and that every female of every age is told again and again: “You’re too much. Quit being you. You don’t belong. Wait your turn. Be quiet. Quit being so good.” Quit Being So Good is a call to MOXIE: to be unapologetic.

Reading Quit Being So Good will challenge you to be your MOXIEST self, teach you to be unapologetic, and inspire you to be part of the #womenempoweringwomen movement.

Come along with Kristi this summer on the MOXIEon book tour. Follow Kristi as she drives around the Midwest in her MOXIEmobile spreading MOXIE and inspiring changemakers to be unapologetic, change “how things have always been done,” and create a safer and more equitable world for women and girls. Come away with her.

As a Dubuquer, she is partnering with woman-owned business River Lights Bookstore on Saturday, July 10th from 2.30-4.00pm. Learn more at River Lights Bookstore | Culture, Community, Connectedness (
